Get to Know Me
Ocelotl Rocha Vielma is a sculptor and multimedia artist, originally from Northern Mexico.
He explores traditional Mexican aesthetics in a modern context through media such as drawing, ceramics and various forms of sculpture.
Ocelotl is self-taught and further refines his skills as he pursues a Bachelors of Arts on Sculpture and Installations at OCAD Univeristy.
Inspiration:
As he grew up in Northern Mexico near the U.S.A border, he was immersed in diverse artistic and cultural landscapes, which continues to shape his practice.
The most influential are the diverse styles of depiction from precolonial America along with Mexican murals, Chicano street art, Tex Mex Art, Brutalism, Cubism and Graffiti. In his work he explores different themes of spirituality, existentialism, the human psyche and the complexities of human existence.
